Our Founders
The story of Wings of Mercy begins with two men — Spencer Dabbs and Darrell Laws — who share a heart for discipling the next generation and living out their faith in action. What began as a simple desire to encourage students in their walk with Christ has grown into a developing ministry built on compassion, community, and the truth of the Gospel.
As a new organization, Wings of Mercy is still growing — learning, building, and walking step by step in faith. Spencer and Darrell believe that true impact doesn’t come from numbers or recognition, but from faithfully investing in young people and pointing them to Jesus. Their mission is to be obedient with what God has given them today, trusting that He will open the doors needed for tomorrow.
Together, they are laying the foundation for a student-focused outreach that equips, encourages, and strengthens young believers. Through school visits, student engagement events, and intentional relationship-building, their goal is to speak hope, offer biblical guidance, and remind this generation that they are seen, known, and loved by God.
With honesty, integrity, and a heart to serve, Spencer and Darrell continue to move forward — believing that small beginnings can lead to lifelong impact when God is at the center. Wings of Mercy may be new, but the calling behind it is clear and unwavering: to lead students toward Christ and help them walk confidently in the purpose He has set before them.
Spencer Dabbs - Co-Founder/CEO-President
Spencer Dabbs, 25, is the Co-Founder of Wings of Mercy and a devoted follower of Christ with a heart for service, leadership, and outreach. His journey of leadership began at the age of 15 when he joined the Civil Air Patrol, a civilian auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force. Through dedication and discipline, Spencer worked his way through the ranks to achieve the rank of Staff Sergeant, where he led a team of cadets in developing strong leadership skills, discipline, and professionalism. During his time in the program, he also assisted in search and rescue missions, gaining firsthand experience in teamwork, responsibility, and service to others.
Following his time in Civil Air Patrol, Spencer continued to pursue his calling to protect and serve through a career in security, where he developed extensive experience in public safety and crisis response. In 2021, he became a licensed Security Officer under SLED (South Carolina Law Enforcement Division), faithfully serving in that role for over four years. His commitment to integrity, accountability, and leadership has been a defining part of his character — both in professional service and ministry.
Spencer has also attended online courses held by FEMA and has acquired the two following certifications: FEMA IS-1150: DHS HUMAN TRAFFICING AWARENESS and FEMA IS-904: ACTIVE SHOOTER PREVENTION.
Today, Spencer’s primary calling is student outreach through Wings of Mercy. He is passionate about connecting with high school and college students, through fostering Bible study groups that point young people to the hope of Jesus Christ. Spencer is devoted to encouraging students to walk boldly in their faith and in truth, helping them discover the purpose God has uniquely designed for their lives. Whether speaking, mentoring, or building relationships, his heart is to inspire the next generation to live confidently and courageously in Christ.
